Our God is a unique being whose personality is so magnificent and dynamic that we could never fully know every single aspect of him. His plan is to raise a holy people called by his name, separated unto Him and conformed to the image of His son.
Jesus, we all know is the express image of God (Heb 1:3) which means that He is the exact copy of God. God’s plan therefore to conform us to that image requires enabling us to speak, think and act like Him in every situation. We were originally made in His image but as a result of the fall we ceased to function like God does. Adam, the first man, gave birth to a son in His likeness, not at all in the likeness of God (Gen 5:3). Adam had sinned, his nature had changed and so the rest of mankind (we, his descendants) had deviated from the original plan of God. The restoration plan was to get us back to God’s likeness. To get us to begin functioning again like we were originally created to.
It begins with salvation which includes forgiveness and repentance from sin and ends with us knowing Him. As we behold God with an open face we are thus ultimately being changed from one level of glory to another to look more and more like Him (2cor 3:18).
The more God is revealed to us in His word, the more we know Him and the more we walk in the light of that revelation knowledge, the more like Him we become. God is so big that he chooses to reveal different aspects of His person to different people in different ways. He has given different people in the body of Christ extra ordinary knowledge and understanding in areas of life such as leadership, holiness, finances, marriage, joy of everyday life and even health &diet. He decides to reveal the art of worship to some while some He teaches the secrets of prayer. To some He reveals the knowledge of the Holy Spirit in a special and intimate way while to others He gives a ministry characterized by the working of miracles. He makes some people evangelists to remind us to bring people into the fold, some prophets to help us correctly discern the future and some teachers in order that we might understand and accurately interpret His word. He is thus equipping the body of saints so that we are thoroughly furnished in every way in the knowledge of Christ. His ultimate goal being to perfect the saints for the work of the ministry and to edify the body of Christ so that we all arrive in the unity of faith, unto the measure of the statue of the fullness of Christ (Ephe 4:11-13). Every person is critical, and everyone has a role to play in making every child of God an all rounder.
The 360o Christian is therefore a man who recognizes God’s ultimate goal and has decided in himself to learn from the wealth of knowledge that has been made available to the body of Christ by God through ministers of His word operating in various capacities, in their different ministries. There are books, audio and video compact discs, Sunday sermons, conferences, workshops, seminars, prayer and worship sessions that teach people about God or expose people to an atmosphere where the spirit of God is present. A person who truly desires to grow in grace, and in the knowledge of God, must make use of these opportunities.
The 360 degrees Christian, is an all rounder. A person who rightly divides the word of truth and searches the scriptures to know what has been freely given to him by God in Christ. A person who is not content with just an aspect of God’s personality or nature, or just the gift that manifests in his pastor’s life, but one who wants to know and have everything that God has said we can have in this life, on this earth, and in the world to come.
